We offer three types of TEFL Certification:
- TEFL Weekend: 150 hours in Chicago only (25 hours classroom + 100 hour online course + 25 hours ESL classroom observation)
- TEFL Interactive: 120 hour online course (100 hours online + 20 hours ESL classroom observation)
- TEFL Self Paced: 70 hour online course (50 hour course online + 20 hours ESL classroom observation)
Each course is highly intensive and focuses on the general principles of TEFL instruction. You will be introduced to the nuts and bolts of language teaching, covering the principles of effective teaching and also a range of practical skills enabling you to teach English to adult learners. You will complete a wide range of written assignments to help you analyze and refine your teaching skills. You will develop an understanding of the basic principles and techniques of structured conversation language teaching, and develop competence in class lesson planning, course design and delivery. By the end of the course, you will have a thorough grasp of the essentials of teaching English, along with a broad range of effective teaching techniques and classroom management skills.
TEFL Weekend
Course Fee - $1350
TEFL Weekend provides 150 hours of TEFL Instruction.
Classes begin on a Friday evening and are completed by Sunday afternoon. Classes are most of the day on Friday and Practicum Training is on Saturday. The course fee includes class materials, videos, and TEFL Manuals. Lectures, workshops and observation of experienced teachers take up the majority of the course time. Practice Sessions in front of the class or by video is another portion of the class. Whenever practical, participants will have the chance to observe actual classes.
By the end of this course, Participants will complete 150 hours of training. Your TEFL Training is provided in the following manner:
- 100 hours of coursework material
- 25 hours of in-class work with the instructor
- 25 hours of volunteer English teaching
While the instructor has the lead role in feedback sessions, contributions are invited, encouraged and welcomed from all; these could be in the form of comments or questions. When discussing a particular lesson, the teacher of that lesson is expected to comment on the lesson; developing an ability to evaluate one's own teaching is a very important component of the course. At the end of each feedback session, written feedback from the instructor is given to each candidate who taught.
TEFL Interactive
Course Fee - $1,350

TEFL Interactive is an excellent way to complete your TEFL Certification. Participants can access course materials online via their account. You are given access to our instructors through email or by calling the office.
Participants will be enrolled in a virtual online classroom moderated by a certified TEFL Institute instructor through Blackboard.com. Participants will have the opportunity to join discussion boards and chat groups, meet other participants going to their program country, and receive immediate feedback from their instructors.
Participants will complete over 100 hours of TEFL Interactive Training before going abroad plus 20 hours of mandatory classroom observation at a school in their hometown.
The TEFL Interactive Course is an innovative and comprehensive course that exceeds the basic online TEFL Instruction offered by most companies. It is the first of its kind in the TEFL field. Those participants who complete the course successfully will be awarded a TEFL Certification that enables them to teach worldwide.
TEFL Self-Paced
Course Fee - $295
Participants who opt to do self-paced certification will be enrolled in an online course which they must complete in 6 months. Instructors will communicate with these participants directly through email. Completed assignments will be evaluated by the TEFL Institute Online instructors who will provide individualized help and advice throughout the course. This option does NOT include a placement. TEFL Online is ideal for candidates who may not yet be ready to go abroad, or for those who do not know where they would like to teach.
