Living in Korea

Most people who come to Korea know very little or absolutely nothing about the culture, history or daily life here. While we may hear news about South Korea on television from time to time, unless one has actually been here for more than just a one-week vacation, there is no way to really know what to expect from normal day-to-day life.

Most people enjoy immensely the challenge and adventure this represents, and get a real thrill out of exploring all these differences and adapt very easily. However, some people find so many new things at one time to be discomforting and disorienting, and are not able to adapt so readily.

The purpose of this section is two-fold:

  1. To answer many normal questions that people have about coming to South Korea (i.e. ˇ°Can I drink the water?ˇ± or ˇ°Will I be able to take money from my ATM card?ˇ±), and

  2. To inform people as much as possible about the differences in everyday life that they will experience here so as to lessen the disorientation and discomfort they will feel after they arrive.

Although there is no way to prepare soon-to-be new-arrivals to Korea for absolutely all the cultural and daily-life differences they will find, the information provided here will hopefully help them to get a head-start on adjusting to their new life in the land of the morning calm.

For those questions and concerns that are not addressed here, feel free to Contact Us and we will do our best to help.
